Religion and Science Coming Together

Throughout the history of humankind, it is fair to say that science and religion have not agreed. Currently today there are thousands of different religions with twenty major ones that the majority practiceTwenty Major Religions. The number of scientific theories is much larger but still have the same number of most popular ones that most people are familiar with. Ten popular theories. With each religion and each theory, they all offer different answers to some of the greatest questions still left unanswered. What is life's purpose? Is there a soul? Does God exist? However, neither science nor religion has proof of what they claim to have the answers for; religion believes in faith in what it promises, and science believes in logic in its answers.

John Bunyan is known to the world for being a Christian writer and preacher. He believes that the world was created by one god and as humans it is our destiny to find our way back to god. In his famous book “  The Pilgrim’s Progress,,” he illustrates several different aspects of life that give examples of different challenges people must go through in order to get to heaven. His book shows by example if someone can over come these challenges they too can go to heaven. One challenge from the book that still reflects a challenge today is the scene with the silver mines. “Not I, said Christian, I have heard of this place before now; and how many have there been slain; and besides that, treasure is a snare to those that seek it,” (Bunyan). Christian’s refusal to seek out the silver mines for wealth is an example of the struggle that many people face today. We are all told that we have to go out to make money in order to be successful or happy but when we die all of the wealth that we may make will not amount to anything. In comparison to science this all relates to how people may spend all of their lives studying and learning but never take a moment to enjoy their lives. Both science and religion demand so much from the people that practice them I believe sometime people need to take a moment and remember how to smile.

Sir Isaac Newton, is regarded by many people as a man of science. Many of his theories are still relevant today such as his 3 Laws of Motion, the theory of gravity and calculus. However, what many do not realize is the Newton was also a religious man that studied and read the bible often. Many of his theories and beliefs came from past religious text and scriptures. Newton's views on religion or beliefs about religion is not perhaps widely accepted but his points are logically based. He strongly disagreed with 1 John 5:7. He would argue that in none of the angent scripts does it comfirm that the father, son and holy spirt are one. This disagreement is important as how his logically stance does casue conflic with relgion but it is nessarary. People today many times may read something online or on Facebook and believe whatever it says. Newton show the importance of fact checking and making a logical belief in something. Not simply beleive what people tell you but find the truth for yourself.

  1. Very interesting! Bringing up the world's different religions, it brings to mind the question between why we should separate religion and science. Surely if majority of the world's population has believed in some aspect of a higher power, then there could be some merit. My only questions lie with the introduction. The only thing I would like to know is what examples of factorial evidence are there and by what definition of peace do you compare as humanity's common goal?

  2. I had the same problem of spacing in one of my posts. You see how your last paragraph is spaced differently than the ones above it? If you find out how to correct that, can you tell me? I couldn't get mine straightened out.

    1. I keep giving this advice; read your blog outloud. That will help you catch your spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. I write my blog on a Word document first, and then copy it over to the blog. That helps as well.
